Jhenaidah Correspondent: Students of Jhenaidah Polytechnic Institute have invented a vending machine for sanitary pads. This discovery has caused a stir all around. A team of 6 students of Polytechnic Institute inaugurated the machine. The machine has already won the Basis National ICT Award. Also currently competing for the International APICTA award are China, Hong Kong and Japan. Competing with 15 countries of the world including Singapore, India, Australia, Malaysia, it is in the top 10 projects. Earlier, the students of the institute made a sign of technological achievement by making 'Automatic House Cleaner and Life Safety Robot' and agriculture based robot 'Smart Agro Robot'. Speaking to media persons on Tuesday, Hridoy Hossain, head of the team, said that girls in our country are often embarrassed when they go to buy sanitary pads from shops. Many times the victim is mentally and physically abused by the scoundrel. As a result, many are hesitant to buy pads from the store. That is why many girls do not use sanitary pads. As a result, girls suffer from a variety of problems, including infections. To solve this problem we have created ‘IoT based smart vending machine for sanitary pads’. With the help of this machine a girl can easily collect pads as per her need.

To collect the pad, the customer has to pay Rs 10 inside his nearest machine for which he can easily get a sanitary pad. Sharmin Akhter Tanni, another member of the discovery team, said that if the pad runs out of the machine, the machine will inform us via text message. Then the controller will come back to the machine with the pad. This will not give extra time to the shopkeeper or the user. Baktiyar Ahmed Bappi, a member of the team, said that a girl can easily see the location of the machine using the machine's own mobile app and can buy pads by scanning the QR code attached to the machine or making payment through cash. Md. Sajeed-ur-Rahman, Principal Engineer, Jhenaidah Polytechnic Institute, said, We provide them with whatever they need. We can see the success of the project.
