National debate fest ends at JU

News Desk: A month-long debate festival titled National Debate Fest-2021 concluded through the final round debate of the tournament and a grand cultural programme at Jahangirnagar University campus on Friday night.

The host debating club, JU debating organisation crowned the top position on the ‘Inter-university’ category of the tournament while Chattogram University Debating Society acquired the runner-up position.

 

The champion and runner up teams from ‘Inter-university’, ‘Inter-college’ and ‘Inter-school’ were awarded on the concluding ceremony of the festival held at the university’s Selim Al DeenMuktamancha.

 

Deputy managing director of ANSAR-VDP Unnayan Bank Wahida Begum, JUDO adviser Professor ATM Atiqur Rahman, director of JU Teachers-Students Center Professor Alamgir Kabir, among others, were present.

Besides, the debaters from Dhaka College and Birshreshtha Noor Mohammad Public School and College received the champion and runner-up award in the ‘Inter College’ category of the tournament.

Birshreshtha Noor Mohammad Public School and College debating team also crowned the top position in the ‘Inter-School’ category while the debating team from Sylhet Government Pilot High School was awarded the runner-up position.

SA Sagar of Bangladesh University of Textiles Debating Club, Syedur Rahman of Dhaka College debating team, Sadman Rahman Shabab of Manipur School and College debating team were also awarded the ‘Debater of the final’ in their respective categories.

Inscribed with the slogan Konthe Vanguk Kaler Pracir, Jahangirnagar University Debate Organisation organised the festival while a total of 96 teams across the country participated under school, college and university categories.

This year the festival began on October 7, featured the 16th edition of inter university, 10th edition of inter school and inter college competition.
