News Desk: The government has taken initiative to vaccinate all teachers, officials and employees before the opening of schools and colleges on March 30. So far, however, about half of the primary school teachers have not been vaccinated. The Ministry of Education and the Department of Secondary and Higher Education (Maushi) do not have the exact number of vaccinated teachers among the 630,000 teachers and staff.

But Mausi says they initially knew most of the teachers had been vaccinated. Teachers under the age of 40 are lagging behind. Meanwhile, the situation of corona virus in the country seems to be getting worse again. Mortality and identification rates, both are on the rise again. As a result, there has been uncertainty about the opening of the school-college at the announced time.

Several officials of the Ministry of Education have told Prothom Alo that if the situation of coronavirus infection continues to increase, it will not be possible to open educational institutions from March 30. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has instructed the British Council not to conduct the Cambridge system's 'O' and 'A' labels in April this year due to the corona virus.

The Ministry of Education issued the directive in a letter to the country's director of the British Council on Tuesday. All educational institutions in the country have been closed since March 16 last year due to coronavirus. As such, today is the one year anniversary of the closure of continuous educational institutions.

Although the paper says that the holiday is from March 16, the educational institution has been closed since March 16 due to the government holiday on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children's Day. For so long after independence, educational institutions have never been closed. In fact, due to this long holiday in Corona, not only the education of about four crore students from primary to higher education of the country, but also their normal life has been severely affected.

As the mental development of the students is being hampered along with their studies, the students of higher education are also lagging behind in entering their careers. Various public and annual examinations had to be canceled. Although the distance education system has been introduced, in reality it is increasing the inequality between the students in the city and the mooseball area.

Because most of the students in rural areas are being deprived of online classes. Radio and television classes were also not very effective. A recent study by the non-governmental organization Mass Literacy Campaign found that despite the provision of distance education, in reality only 69 per cent students could not take part in the system. Due to these reasons, student dropout, child marriage and child labor have also started increasing. According to the latest announcement due to Corona, there is a holiday until March 29.

After that, from March 30, it was announced to open all the educational institutions from primary to higher secondary in the country. Although a senior official of the Ministry of Education was informed on Tuesday, it is not possible to open the educational institution on March 30 if the situation of coronavirus continues. Earlier, Education Minister Dipu Moni and Health Minister Zahid Malek also hinted at reconsidering the decision to reopen the educational institution if the corona infection increased.

* A total of 3 lakh 60 thousand 36 teachers in government primary schools, 2 lakh 13 thousand 372 people have been vaccinated.

* The total number of teachers, officers and employees in secondary schools, colleges, madrasas and technical colleges is 8 lakh 29 thousand 990 people, the Ministry of Education does not have the exact information about how many people have been vaccinated.

Mausi Director General Professor Syed Golam Farooq told yesterday evening that so far it has been decided to open on March 30. However, they will not take any risk with the students. It is learned that before the opening on March 30, teachers were vaccinated with the first dose of corona virus. For this, a separate arrangement has been made by giving priority to teachers, officers and employees on the website (protection) launched for registration of corona vaccination. In this class called ‘Educational Institution’, there are two separate classes named Teachers and Officers-Employees.

According to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, they have sent a list of 3 lakh 60 thousand 37 teachers of government primary schools to the health service department. But a search by the Department of Primary Education has revealed that a total of 270,000 223 teachers have registered till last Monday. 2 lakh 13 thousand 362 of them have been vaccinated.

On the other hand, there are 6 lakh 29 thousand 990 teachers, officers and employees in schools, colleges, madrasas and technical educational institutions under the Ministry of Education. Of these, 2 lakh 65 thousand 428 are teachers, officers and employees below 40 years of age.

A senior official of the secondary and higher education department of the education ministry told on Wednesday that they would like information on how many people have been vaccinated so far in a day or two. In this regard, the director general of Mausi said, they did not get the exact information about how many teachers have been vaccinated. But as far as you know, most teachers over the age of 40 have been vaccinated. Teachers under the age of 40 are a bit behind. They hope that all teachers, officials and employees will be vaccinated soon.

On the other hand, before the opening of the dormitories of the universities on May 18, it was decided to vaccinate about 130,000 residential students, but no separate system has been launched for the students on the 'Suraksha' website yet. Universities said they are now collecting data on residential students.

Then vaccination will be arranged. However, the people in charge of the dormitory hall of the university are fearing some complications including getting National Identity Card (NID) number from the students in a short time at this time of closure of the educational institution. Again, many students have not yet got the national identity card. For this, they have suggested to make arrangements to vaccinate the students using the student ID given by the university or any other special system.
