Economy Desk: The price of gold in the country's market has been slightly reduced. The price of the best quality or 22 carat gold (11.664 grams) has been reduced by Tk 3,138. In this, the price of one load of good quality gold has become 1 lakh 16 thousand 290 taka.

This price has been reduced in view of the reduction in the price of acid gold (ripe gold) in the local market. Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) said that this price will be implemented from 4 pm on Tuesday (April 23).

Earlier, on April 21, the price of one bar of good quality gold was fixed at Tk 1 lakh 19 thousand 428 from that day. After two days of setting this price, the price of gold has decreased.

Bajus Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring Committee met on Tuesday and decided to reduce the prices. Later this information was informed in a circular signed by the chairman of the committee, Masudur Rahman.

According to the notification, the price of acidic gold has decreased in the local market. Therefore, considering the overall situation, Bangladesh Jewelery Association has fixed the new price of gold, which will be effective from 4 pm on Tuesday.

According to the new prices, the price of one bar of best quality or 22 carat gold has been reduced from Tk 3,138 to Tk 1,16,290. The price of a 21 carat gold bar has been reduced by 3 thousand 9 taka to 1 lakh 10 thousand 995 taka.

In addition, the price of 18 carat gold has been reduced by 2 thousand 566 taka to 95 thousand 143 taka. And the price of one load of traditional gold has been reduced to 76 thousand 586 taka.

However, buyers have to pay more than this to buy gold jewellery. Because gold jewelery is sold by adding 5 percent VAT on the price fixed by Bajus. Along with that, the minimum wage per worker is 3 thousand 499 taka. As a result, buyers will have to pay 1 lakh 25 thousand 604 taka to buy a piece of 22 carat gold jewelery from tomorrow.

Last April 21, the price of the best quality or 22 carat gold was increased by 630 taka to 1 lakh 19 thousand 428 taka. The price of a 21 carat gold bar has been increased by 607 taka to 1 lakh 14 thousand 4 taka.

Besides, the price of 18 carat gold was increased by 513 taka to 97 thousand 709 taka. And the price of one load of traditional gold was increased by 420 taka to 78 thousand 662 taka. Gold will be sold at this price till 4 pm today, Tuesday.

Now the price of gold is increased but the price of silver remains unchanged. The price of 22 carat silver is 2 thousand 100 taka, 21 carat is 2 thousand 6 taka, 18 carat is 1 thousand 715 taka and traditional method is 1 thousand 283 taka.
