Remittance Surpasses 2 Billion Dollars in Just 14 Days

News Desk: In the first 14 days of this month, expatriates have sent more than 2 billion dollars (over 200 crore dollars) to Bangladesh.

This information comes from the latest report of Bangladesh Bank on Monday (March 16).

During this period, remittances totaled USD 2.2044 billion. At an exchange rate of 122 taka per dollar, this amounts to nearly BDT 27,000 crore.

According to the central bank’s latest report, out of the total remittance in the first 14 days of March:

• State-owned banks received USD 372.4 million

• Specialized banks received USD 272.8 million

• Private banks received USD 1.5545 billion

• Foreign banks received USD 4.5 million

Earlier, in February, expatriates sent more than USD 3 billion (300 crore dollars) to the country. In total, February’s remittance amounted to USD 3.021 billion, equivalent to over BDT 36,000 crore at 122 taka per dollar.
