News Desk: The process of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s departure for London for medical treatment has been delayed. The special air ambulance, arranged by the Amir of Qatar to transport her, will not arrive in Dhaka at the scheduled time.
On Friday (5 December), BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir confirmed the matter. He said that if everything goes according to plan, the special air ambulance may arrive in Dhaka tomorrow (Saturday).
As a result, Khaleda Zia’s travel abroad has been pushed back by one day. Mirza Fakhrul stated that if Begum Zia’s physical condition permits and the medical board approves, she will fly on Sunday (7 December), InshaAllah.
Earlier on Thursday (4 December), it was reported that the BNP chairperson might begin her journey to London on Friday morning (5 December). For this reason, Tarique Rahman’s wife had already arrived in Dhaka.
However, in the meantime, the BNP Secretary General has confirmed that the London trip has been postponed. Yesterday, Khaleda Zia’s personal physician, Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, said that based on the unanimous decision of the medical board and considering her current health condition, arrangements were made to take her to a designated hospital in London via a Qatar Royal Air Ambulance.
