Ihsanul Haque Manju Seeks BNP Nomination to Serve the People of Melandaha-Madariganj

Jamalpur Correspondent: A.K.M. Ihsanul Haque Manju, former Secretary of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, has announced his intention to seek the nomination of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election from Jamalpur-3 (Melandaha-Madariganj) constituency.

He made the announcement during a press briefing held on Saturday (1 November) at the Melandaha Upazila Reporters’ Unit.

At the briefing, Manju stated, “Since the fall of the fascist Hasina government on 5 August, I have been working for the people of Melandaha and Madariganj Upazilas. I have undertaken initiatives for road and market development, improvement of educational institutions, measures against river erosion, construction of mosques and temples, and special financial assistance for the poor and helpless through various government departments. The people have positively acknowledged my work, inspiring me to seek BNP’s nomination for the upcoming parliamentary election.”

He added, “I am seeking BNP’s nomination in response to the needs of the people. I hope the residents of Melandaha-Madariganj will support me, and if the party grants me the nomination, I will contest the election under the party’s Dhanshish (rice sheaf) symbol.”

Manju also emphasized his commitment to establishing a corruption-free and exploitation-free society. He recalled facing persecution under the previous Awami League regime, including multiple lawsuits—even under the Digital Security Act—and being placed on OSD status and dismissed from service due to his BNP affiliation. After 5 August, he was reinstated with promotion arrears to his secretary position and has since retired. He is currently engaged in local development work and feels the people expect him to contest as an MP.

The press briefing was attended by BNP leaders from Melandaha-Madariganj and journalists from various print and electronic media outlets.
