News Desk, Chittagong – October 16, 2025: A major fire has broken out at the Al Hamid Textile garment factory in the Chittagong Export Processing Zone (EPZ). The nine-story building reportedly houses over 500 workers.
The fire started on Thursday at approximately 2:10 PM.
According to the Fire Service, 16 units are currently working to bring the blaze under control. Talha Bin Jasim, an officer from the Media Cell of the Fire Service Headquarters, confirmed that the fire has affected the 5th, 6th, and 7th floors of the seven-story building.
Al Hamid Textile primarily produces towels. Upon receiving news of the fire, the Fire Service immediately rushed to the scene.
In addition, personnel from the Air Force and Navy are also assisting in firefighting operations to contain the fire.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of all workers and prevent further damage.
