GESMIN Project Marks IDDR 2025 by Urging Focus Shift: Fund Resilience, Not Disasters

Jamalpur Correspondent : "Fund Resilience, Not Disasters" with this theme GESMIN Project has observed the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDR) 2025 on Monday, 13 October 2025. As a part of this observation a Rally & Discussion Meeting with 60 Producers Group Members and DAE (SAAO) at Shahbajpur, Jamalpur Sadar.

Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer (SAAO) Most. Bokul Nahar, Agriculture Specialist, GESMIN Project, Dr. Parimal Sarker, Technical Specialist- Communication, Kownan Mursalin has highlighted the Critical need for integrating climate-resilient crop varieties with crop insurance. This discussion emphasized shifting the focus from post-disaster relief to pre-disaster investment strategies, ensuring the sustainability and financial security of local producers.

This event was hosted by Business Development Officer, GESMIN Project Noor-E-Jannat.

The GESMIN Project has been operational in four sub-districts of Jamalpur District (Sadar, Melandah, Islampur, and Dewanganj) since 2023. This project is essentially an extension of the NSVC Project (2018-2023), which was supported by the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP) and implemented by World Vision Bangladesh & Unnayan Sangha.
