News Desk: In Lalpur, Natore, nine members of an EMO hacking group have been arrested during a joint operation involving over 200 security personnel. Authorities recovered 35 mobile phones and five additional SIM cards from the suspects.
Police Superintendent Mohammad Tarikul Islam provided this information during a press briefing at his office at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 10.
The arrests took place on Thursday night, October 9, during raids in various villages of Bilmaria and Durduria unions, targeting individuals allegedly involved in EMO hacking activities.
The arrested individuals are: Ariful Islam (30), son of Mosabber Hossain from Nowpara village; Sohag Ali (28), son of Babul Sarkar; Obaidur Ali (24), son of Shajahan Ali; Rasel Ahmed (20), son of Fazlur Rahman; Ekhlas Mondal (23), son of Azgar Mondal from Mohorkoya village; Rubel Sardar (25), son of Jatu Sardar; Mohon Ahmed (17), son of Shariful Islam; Maruf Hossain (23), son of Abdul Malek from Nagshosha village; and Tutul Ali (16).
Police Superintendent Tarikul Islam stated that Lalpur has been a hub for mobile phone, bKash, and EMO hacker groups that have been active for a long time. The fraudsters impersonated high-ranking officials, including the police DIG, military officers, and government secretaries, to deceive the public.
He added that intelligence agencies had been monitoring the group for some time, and they were apprehended during the joint operation late Thursday night. The recovered items included 35 mobile phones and several SIM cards, and cases have been filed against the arrested individuals.
