In Barura, Comilla, the voluntary organization Lal Shobuj Unnayan Songho distributed tree saplings funded from tiffin savings. On Sunday, October 5, the organization held a tree plantation and sapling distribution program on Barura Thana Road, handing out 50 saplings to pedestrians.
The program was inaugurated by Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Barura Police Station, Kazi Nazmul Haque, who attended as the chief guest. Special guests included Police Inspector (Investigation) Sanjay Kumar Sarkar, founder and central president of Lal Shobuj Unnayan Songho, Kawser Alam Sohel, Debidwar branch president Yasin Munsi, treasurer Mehedi Hasan Maruf, and members Sadman Tasin, Shamim, and Shihab.
Kawser Alam Sohel, central president of the organization, said, “All of our members are students. By saving money from our tiffins, we are distributing tree saplings across the country to raise awareness for environmental protection. This year, our goal is to distribute 50,000 saplings.”
