Jamalpur Correspondent: The distribution of high-quality national identity cards (smart cards) has started among citizens in Jamalpur's Islampur upazila.
This card will be distributed among 2 lakh 3 thousand 728 voters of the upazila.
Jamalpur District Election Officer Mohammad Shaniazzaman Talukdar inaugurated the distribution of smart cards in the premises of Islampur High School and College on Tuesday (October 1) morning.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO-Acting) Syed Mohammad Ibrahim along with officials at various levels of local administration were present at this time. Leaders of various political parties and dignitaries of the area were also present.
According to the office of the district election officer, smart cards will be distributed among 2 lakh 3 thousand 728 voters of 12 unions including Islampur municipality. This card distribution program will continue till December 2 this year. During this period the card can be collected from the concerned center daily from 9 am to 5 pm.
District Election Officer Mohammad Shaniazzaman Talukder said at the opening ceremony of card distribution that the name of the person (Bangla and English), parents' names, date of birth and national identity registration number are visible on this smart card. On the back of the card is the person's constituency address, blood group and place of birth. But in all, there are 32 types of information in the chip or database inside the smart card, which will be machine-readable.
