News Desk: The national-level final match and award ceremony of the Primary School Gold Cup Football Tournament concluded at the Bangladesh Army Stadium amid great enthusiasm and excitement. Speaking at the event, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yaser Khan Chowdhury became emotional.
The State Minister said that although Achargaon Uttar Para Government Primary School of Nandail, representing the Mymensingh division, could not become champions, “playing in front of the Prime Minister and receiving a trophy from his hands is not an ordinary achievement.”
He made the remarks on Saturday (June 20) after the final match and closing ceremony of the tournament at the Bangladesh Army Stadium, addressing the people of Nandail, players, and well-wishers present at the event.
Highlighting the excellent performance of the Nandail team, the State Minister said, “I watch your games. You played extremely well on the field today as well. However, according to the rules of the game, there will always be winners and losers. Through today’s defeat, we have learned many things. We will use this experience and perform better in the future.”
He expressed sincere gratitude and appreciation to the people of Nandail for qualifying to play the final match at the highly prestigious Bangladesh Army Stadium.
It is worth mentioning that this tournament is one of the largest and most participatory sporting events in the history of primary education in Bangladesh. This year, millions of students from 65,569 government primary schools across the country had the opportunity to participate.
A total of 123,174 matches were held nationwide as teams progressed through the union, upazila, district, and divisional levels before reaching the national stage.
