The True Purpose of Education is to Dedicate Oneself to the Welfare of Society and the State: Education Adviser

News Desk: Education Adviser Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar has stated that the true purpose of education is to dedicate oneself to the welfare of society and the state. He made these remarks on Wednesday (17 December) at the 12th convocation of Rajshahi University.

The adviser emphasized that knowledge is not only for personal development but also creates responsibility. He added that one must speak out against corruption, stand for truth and justice, and uphold fairness. He also noted the contributions of the July freedom fighters and stressed the importance of working for marginalized communities, including smaller ethnic groups.

Speaking about Rajshahi University, the education adviser said that the institution is not merely an academic center but also a place for moral education, citing Shamsuzzohha and Badruddin Omar as shining examples.

At the event, University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Saleh Hasan Naqib urged students to use their achievements for the welfare of the country.

The convocation marked the graduation of the 60th, 61st, and 62nd batches of various faculties after nearly six years, with 5,969 students participating, turning the campus into a festive venue. Students, guardians, and teachers gathered at the convocation site from early morning.
