Dohar (Dhaka) Representative: The Upazila administration and the municipal administrator evicted a partial illegal establishment on government property at 'Toha Bazar' in Joypara Hat-Bazar of Dohar Upazila. On Wednesday (July 9) morning, Upazila Executive Officer and Municipal Administrator Tania Tabassum conducted a drive to evict illegal establishments on the property of 'Toha Bazar' in Joypara Bazar. Members of the army, Dohar Thana police, members of the fire service and Ansar force assisted in the drive.
It is learned that the Upazila administration and municipal authorities evicted the illegal shop built during the Awami government's tenure, although the land belongs to the Deputy Commissioner. It is learned that the land reserved for the purchase and sale of products produced by marginal farmers within the limits of the hat and market was occupied by influential people in 2012-13.
At that time, the Awami influential people of that time occupied about half an acre of land in Toha Bazar and built shops by dividing it. Then, to make the matter legal, the then Dhaka-1 constituency MP submitted a due letter to the upazila administration through the municipality mayor. At one stage, the occupation was implemented on the orders of former Dhaka-1 constituency MP Salman F. Rahman. Joypara Hat Bazar was built on the property of Toha Bazar. Recently, the issue was discussed in the upazila law and order meeting, where farmers were frustrated because they did not get a place to sell their produce at the weekly hat-market. It was presided over by Doha Upazila Executive Officer and Municipal Administrator Tania Tabassum. The operation was concluded by taking a final decision to recover government property in the meeting.
In today's operation, about 21 illegal shop establishments were demolished. During this time, a large number of iron establishments of the shops were sold at auction.
In this regard, Joypara Baro Bazar and Hat-Bazar President SM Kuddus said that the rescue operation has been going on since morning in the rain. We have been on the campaign since morning, keeping in mind that there is no loss of life and property of the traders. I thank the upazila administration and the concerned authorities for conducting such a campaign.
In this regard, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Tasfiq Sibgat Ullah said that for a long time, influential people have been violating government interests by building shops and occupying government property. This campaign will continue in the future as well.
In this regard, Upazila Independent Officer and Municipal Administrator Tania Tabassum said that 15 percent of the land has been partially recovered from the property of about half an acre of Toha Bazar. Real farmers will be able to keep their produce here and sell it.
