News Desk: Nine months have passed since the mass student-people uprising, yet there has been no visible trial for the massacres that occurred. Instead, former ministers and MPs of the ousted government flee abroad and live in comfort. In the midst of this, former President Abdul Hamid left the country at midnight on Wednesday, sparking fresh political controversy. In this context, Hasnat Abdullah, chief organizer of the National Citizen Party (NCP) for the southern region, expressed strong resentment toward the interim government.
On Thursday morning (May 8), he voiced his frustration in a post from his verified Facebook profile.
Hasnat Abdullah wrote, Killers are being allowed to leave the country safely, and even when police arrest suspects, the courts grant them bail. Shirin Sharmin was even provided state assistance to get her passport delivered to her home.
He further criticized, The second tribunal was supposed to begin in January, yet even in May it hasn't started. And you still claim that the Awami League will be brought to justice?
Concluding his post with a pointed question, the NCP’s southern regional leader asked, So, Interim [Government]—what justice and reforms have you delivered so far?
Incidentally, nine months after the July uprising that led to the fall of the Awami League government, former President Abdul Hamid left the country at 3:05 AM on a Thai Airways flight on Wednesday night. His sudden departure has already raised questions and sparked widespread discussion in political circles.
