Khandaker Ibrahim Khaled is no more

News Desk: Former Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Khandaker Ibrahim Khaled has passed away (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilahi Raziun). He died at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Wednesday morning. He was 80 years old.

Public Relations Officer of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Prashant Majumder confirmed the matter. He said Ibrahim Khaled was admitted to BSMMU in a dying condition. After that, his condition was somewhat better.

However, his physical condition deteriorated after he had a stroke on Friday. Earlier, he was infected with the coronavirus. After being diagnosed with the coronavirus, he was admitted to the Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in the capital Shyamoli.

Apart from being the Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Ibrahim Khaled has also served as the Chairman and Managing Director of Bangladesh Krishi Bank and Managing Director of Sonali, Agrani, and Pubali Banks. Khandaker Ibrahim Khaled was born in 1941 in Gopalganj.

He obtained his master's degree in geography from Dhaka University and his MBA degree from IBA and joined the banking profession in 1973.
