Stamps have been issued to commemorate the 52nd year of Bangabandhu's title

News Desk: The Postal Department has issued postage stamps, inaugural envelopes, and data cards to commemorate the 52nd anniversary of the naming of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as 'Bangabandhu'. Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar on Tuesday (February 23rd) unveiled a commemorative stamp worth Tk 10 and an opening envelope worth Tk 10 at his office in Dhaka. Besides, a data card worth Tk 5 was launched.

The Minister used a seal in this regard. He made a statement in this regard. This information has been given in the press release of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications. These commemorative stamps, opening envelopes, and data cards will be available from Tuesday at the Dhaka GPO's Philatelic Bureau and later at other GPOs and major post offices across the country. On this day in 1969, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the undisputed leader of the Bengalis and the father of the nation, was conferred the title of 'Bangabandhu'.

The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications said in a statement that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the great hero of the thousand-year history of Bengalis. He has set a rare example of wonderful leadership by establishing the state of Bangladesh after 23 years of uncompromising struggle. Behind the independence of Bengal is the incident of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman being imprisoned in Pakistan for 13 years for the liberation of the people. No leader in the world has accepted so much sacrifice for the people.

He said that although Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was awarded various names including Nayanmani of Bengal, Bangashardul, undisputed leader, liberator of Bengalis, he was awarded the title of Father of the Nation. And that imperfection was filled on February 23, 1989. And the history became the mass reception organized by the Student Struggle Parishad of the then Racecourse Maidan (now Suhrawardy Udyan).

Mustafa Jabbar said that in the public reception given to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the racecourse ground after his release from the Agartala case, in the presence of more than one million people, the then VP of Daksh and President of the All-Party Student Struggle Parishad Tofail Ahmed declared, ‘From today he is our Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The Minister said that when Sheikh Mujibur Bangabandhu became Bangabandhu, he became a friend of Bengal's nature, a friend of Bengali language and culture, a friend of Bengali nationalism, a friend of nationalism, a friend of the liberation struggle, so only Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is 'Bangabandhu'.
