The High Court ordered the removal of Al Jazeera's report from Facebook and YouTube

News Desk: The High Court has directed the BTRC to remove the report on Bangladesh from the Qatar-based television channel Al Jazeera from Facebook and YouTube. Wednesday (February 18) High Court Justice.

Mojibur Rahman Mia and Justice. The order was passed by a virtual bench comprising Kamrul Hossain Mollah. The matter was confirmed by lawyer Barrister Reza-e Rakib. Attorney General AM Amin Uddin appeared for the state in the court today. On the other hand, Barrister Reza-e Rakib appeared for BTRC.

Deputy Attorney General Barrister Nowroz Mohammad was also attached to the court today. Barrister Reza-e Rakib on behalf of Russell Chowdhury and BTRC. Barrister Enamul Kabir Emon was in favor of the writ petition.

He was accompanied by Barrister Farzana Shaila. Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Enamul Kabir Emon filed a writ petition in the High Court on February 8 seeking directions to stop Al Jazeera from broadcasting and remove the report on Bangladesh from Facebook and YouTube. Rite called for the removal of the "All the Prime Minister's Men" report, which was circulated by the media, on all online platforms, including YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.

In the writ petition, the Secretary of Posts and Telecommunications, Secretary of Information and Technology, Chairman of BTRC, Inspector General of Police and others have been made defendants. On February 10, the High Court appointed six amicus curiae to hear comments on Al Jazeera's report.

Later on February 15, lawyers AJ Mohammad Ali, Kamalul Alam, Prabir Niyogi, Barrister Fida M Kamal, Abdul Matin Khasru and Shahdin Malik presented their views as amicus curiae (friends of the court) in the relevant virtual bench of the High Court.

An investigative report on Bangladesh was aired on Al Jazeera on February 1, which caused a huge reaction. The report alleges that high-ranking officials were involved in corruption. Officially this report has been strongly protested.
