News Desk: The office-cum-guards of the government primary school are protesting on the road in front of the Department of Primary Education in Mirpur demanding three points including elimination of pay inequality and nationalization of jobs.

From 10 am on Monday, several thousand office-cum-guards from different parts of the country are chanting slogans demanding three points on the road. The roads in the area have been closed. Traffic jams have occurred on both sides of the road. The passengers have fallen into extreme misery.

According to the protesters, 37,000 office-cum-guards have been appointed in government primary schools across the country. They are not getting fair salary even after working in government schools.

They have to do inhumane office work during the day and guard duty at night. Since being appointed to the post in 2013, he has been on duty for 24 hours. Can't go on like this. So they have besieged the Department of Primary Education demanding three points.

Regarding the demands, the general secretary of the Primary School Employees Welfare Association said that at least 10,000 office-bearers and guards were protesting demanding nationalization of posts, fixing of 8-hour working hours and elimination of pay inequality. Their protest will continue until the demand is met.

Going to the spot, it was seen that the office bearers have been standing on the road in front of the Primary Education Department of Mirpur since morning. They are located on different roads.

Due to this, the roads on both sides from Mirpur-1 to No. 10 have been closed. Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck.

Meanwhile, protesters blocked the vehicles of senior officials of the Department of Primary Education. Many of them are unable to enter. They are displaying placards and protesting with a position demanding three points.

The agitators said that they are working in front of the department to transfer the post of office-cum-guard to the revenue sector, fix working hours as per the reply given by the department submitted to the High Court, eliminate pay inequality, determine the type of work and implement the High Court verdict immediately.

One of the activists said, "We don't have any weekly leave. We filed a writ petition in the high court in 2017 for various reasons and nationalization of jobs."

Although the court verdict came in our favor on July 30 this year, the department did not take any action in this regard. We are compelled to carry out joint sit-in program from all the districts of the country.

Mamun Sardar, joint convener of the Primary School Employees Welfare Association, said their sit-in program would continue until a specific announcement was made to implement the demand.
