International Desk: The Ukrainian military attacked two large Russian ships anchored in the occupied Crimea peninsula. Besides, the country also attacked various facilities used by the Russian Navy in the Black Sea.

According to the report, the Ukrainian military said in a statement on Sunday that the Russian ships Azov and Yamal anchored in the temporarily occupied Crimea peninsula were successfully attacked. Apart from this, several installations including a communication center of the Russian fleet in the Black Sea were also attacked overnight. However, the Ukrainian military did not clarify in that statement how these attacks were conducted.

Meanwhile, the Russian-appointed governor of Sevastopol, Crimea, Mikhail Razvozhaev, confirmed the overnight attack. In a post on Telegram, he said, Russia's air defense system shot down at least 10 missiles over the port of Sevastopol. He also mentioned that this is the biggest attack by Ukraine in recent times in Crimea.

Mikhail also said that a 65-year-old man died and four others were injured in the Ukrainian attack. Several boats and buses were damaged in this incident. Out of which there are three passenger and 13 school buses.

Videos shared on social media show a large explosion in the city. Fireballs and black smoke were seen in the air.

Kiev claims it has destroyed about one-third of Russia's Black Sea fleet since invading Ukraine in February 2022. Usually the area is attacked at night using explosive-laden sea-based drones.
