Thakurgaon correspondent: Farmers of Thakurgaon are dreaming of profiting by cultivating onion seeds known as 'black gold'. The district is expected to produce onion seeds worth Tk 23 crore this year. Farmers have shown interest in seed cultivation in the past few years due to good yield and price.

In Charol village of Baliadangi upazila, one can see field after field of onion seed covered with white flowers. Not only the farmers have benefited from these fields, local youth have also been given employment.
