There are enough winter vegetables in Narail market but the price is very high

Narail representative:  The markets of three upazilas of Narail are full of fresh winter vegetables but the prices are very high. Buyers say that in other years, vegetables are available at this time of winter, this time the heat has spread in the winter raw market.

On Tuesday (January 30), the raw market of the district was seen to be selling at Tk 30 to Tk 40 per kg and cauliflower at Tk 40 to Tk 50 per kg. Cucumber 60 to 70 taka per kg, red potato 40 to 50, white potato 35 to 45, tomato 40 to 60, carrot 30, brinjal 70 to 80, radish 20 to 30, pepper 80 to 100, onion desi new 90 to 100, Onion 40 to 50 taka, ole 40 to 50, ginger 200 to 240, garlic 220 to 250, puishak 60 to 70, beans 60, broad beans 80 to 100, beans 100 to 120, white brinjal 65 to 70, bitter gourd 100, papaya 30 to 40 .Kachankala is being sold at Tk 25 to Tk 30 per hali and sweet pumpkin at Tk 50 to Tk 60 per kg.

 A buyer named Shariful Islam said that the price of vegetables was supposed to be lower during winter. But even if the market is full of winter vegetables, why is the price of vegetables high? It has become difficult to run a family by buying vegetables with so much money.

 Vegetable buyer Raic Uddin Tipu said that everything is in the interest of the market and the price is high. I do not understand why the price of goods is high due to imports. Moreover, due to non-availability of Indian onion in the market, the price of desi onion is very high. The prices of all types of vegetables have increased relatively. Common people are struggling to buy vegetables at high prices. Farmers produce vegetables and they do not get high price but the price of vegetables in the retail market is high.

Ibadat Shikder, President of Lohagarh Bazar Traders Association, said that the price of vegetables is higher than other times. But there is no major shortage of supply. He also said that there was some damage to the winter vegetables due to the weather. That is why the price of vegetables has increased a little compared to before. But we hope that within 7-8 days the price of vegetables will come within the purchasing power.
