BGB Director General inspects hot border in Cox's Bazar

Cox's Bazar Correspondent: Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Major General AKM Nazmul Hasan visited Bangladesh-Myanmar border. On Sunday (January 28) from 11:30 a.m., he visited Hoikang in Teknaf, Palangkhali in Ukhia and Tumbru border areas.

Captain of Cox's Bazar 34 BGB confirmed that the director general visited the border to monitor the border situation in addition to regular operational, training and administrative activities. Colonel Mohammad Saiful Islam Chowdhury.

He said that due to the ongoing conflict between the Myanmar Army (BGP) and the Arakan Army in Myanmar, 13 mortar shells and 1 round of bullets fired from Myanmar on January 27 fell inside Bangladesh adjacent to the responsible border of Cox's Bazar Battalion (34 BGB).

Protesting the incident, BGB immediately sent a letter of protest to its rival BGP. In the wake of that incident, the Director General of BGB visited and observed the place where Myanmar's fired mortar shells and bullets fell in Bangladesh from morning to afternoon.

Also visited the respective Palangkhali, Tumbru and Hoikung BOPs and directed the BGB to exercise utmost professionalism in the border areas and to be on the alert for any illegal infiltration in the recent ongoing clashes in Myanmar and the opposing insurgent groups and their activities.

BGB Director General Major General AKM Nazmul Hasan said, BGB is a well-trained force of repute. BGB is professionally monitoring the current situation in Myanmar. Senior officials of BGB headquarters were present with the Director General.
