Locals arrested the BSF member yesterday Thursday (July 27) at around 8:30 pm, 300 yards from border pillar 1007 MP of Sonahat BOP of upazila from inside Bangladesh.

According to local sources, the BSF member was involved in an extramarital affair with a married woman from a neighboring village adjacent to the camp. When he went to meet the woman in a drunken state at night, her lover's husband and local villagers chased him. Meanwhile, he crossed the border and entered Bangladesh to save his life. The BSF member was wearing a t-shirt and half pants and was drinking when he was arrested by the locals. Later the matter was informed to Sonahat BGB Commander and Sonahat BSF camp under BSF. They demanded the return of the detained BSF personnel.

Subedar of Kedar BOP under Kurigram-22 BGB. Aftab Uddin said that the arrested BSF member was handed over to the Sonahat BSF camp in India through the Sonahat land port around 12:30 pm. Currently, the border situation is normal.
