Call 999 if a sacrificial animal carrier obstructs transport: IGP

Kaliakor Correspondent:   Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun gave a press briefing on the occasion of upcoming Eid-ul-Azha to avoid various accidents and suffering of passengers on the highway. He held this press conference in front of the highway police box at Kaliakoi Chandra Trimode in Gazipur on Saturday (June 24) at noon.

The IGP said that the car carrying animals of Qorbani cannot be stopped without complaint. If someone obstructs the transportation of sacrificial animals, inform the police and call 999 if there are no authorities nearby. Some times it has been seen that cows are dragged and dragged, there are complaints of extortion. If anyone is involved in any such incident then strict action will be taken against him as per law. In the case of transportation of sacrificial animals by road and waterways, he called upon the concerned parties to hang a banner mentioning the name of the destination or animal market in front of the boat or vehicle. 

He also said that this Eid challenge will be more than last time. Last Eid's work was only to help common passengers to reach their destination safely. Now on the one hand the passengers will go to the general destination and on the other hand the animal trucks and boats will travel on the roads and rivers. Apart from this, seasonal fruit trucks will also ply on this Eid. None of them can be stopped considering these things, we want to assure the countrymen that this time the government has taken more multifaceted measures.

The Inspector General of Police said, we have already held meetings with the owners and workers stakeholders of each district including the Prime Minister's Office, Home Minister's Office, Ministry of Railways, Police Headquarters, police in every metropolis and district. I had a meeting with the relevant engineers on the road. The District Administrators also held a meeting. We are all working together simultaneously. I hope that with everyone's cooperation, I will be able to reach the destination smoothly on time for all the passengers on the Eid journey. Our senior level officers, Superintendent of Police, DIG, Additional DIG level officers will be engaged round the clock to ease the movement of common passengers. He said that ahead of Eid, the police are working to arrest people involved in counterfeit money and malam parties, including animal markets across the country.

Last Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun departed after inspecting the Dhaka-Tangail highway in Chandra area of ​​Gazipur.
