News Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that she is working for the betterment of all citizens with a non-communal spirit. With the joint efforts of all, we will be able to establish Bangladesh as a hunger-poverty-free, prosperous, non-communal and peaceful country. The Prime Minister said this in a message on the occasion of Garo community religious festival 'Wangala-2021' on Friday (November 12).

Sheikh Hasina said, "On the occasion of the celebration of the religious festival 'Wangala', I extend my sincere greetings to all the members of the Garo community." This year, 'Wangala' and 'Mujibvarsha' are being celebrated following a limited social distance and hygiene rules considering the outbreak of the global epidemic Kovid-19. He said Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony. From time immemorial, the people of the Garo community of this country have been contributing to the cause of building the country inspired by the spirit of brotherhood, friendship and non-communal spirit. The Garo community in Bangladesh has been living peacefully with everyone for ages, embracing their own traditions and culture.

Their individuality, diverse culture, language, values and traditions have enriched the country. The Prime Minister said many of the Garo community took part in the great war of independence in 1971 in response to the call of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the greatest Bengali nation of all time. The nation remembers with respect the contribution of Garo community in the great liberation war.

During the present Awami League government, all the people of the country have been practicing their religion independently, inspired by the non-communal spirit by holding the revelation of 'religion belongs to everyone, festivals belong to everyone'. We are determined to establish Bangladesh as a peaceful country in the court of the world while maintaining the existing communal harmony in the country. I wish the overall success of 'Wangala Festival-2021'.
