Spain is considering giving a third dose of the vaccine to people over the age of 60. The country's health ministry said in a statement on Thursday that a third dose of the vaccine would be given to people over the age of 60 to increase protection against the coronavirus.

The National Public Health Commission has decided that the elderly will be brought under the booster dose later this month. The ministry said in a statement that older people who had received the second dose of the vaccine six months ago would now be given a booster dose.

So far, Spain is offering a third dose of the vaccine only to residents of care homes and those whose immune systems are at risk.

The main goal is to increase the protection of the most vulnerable and vulnerable people, the health ministry said in a statement. That is why they are being brought under booster dose.

Meanwhile, the European Pharmaceutical Surveillance Agency on Monday approved a third dose of the Pfizer-Bioentech vaccine for those over 18 years of age. Many countries have started giving booster doses out of fear that vaccine protection against the virus is declining over time.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has already approved booster doses in more than 15 countries, including France, Italy and Germany.
