Coronavirus: More than two and a half million daily infections in India, breaking all records

International Desk: India is breaking the record of one infection after another. This time the number of victims in the country in one day is more than two and a half lakh. This is the highest infection in 24 hours so far. According to the country's Union Ministry of Health, the number of infected people in India in the last 24 hours is 261,500. On the other hand, 1,501 people lost their lives in one day due to corona infection.

With this, more than two lakh infections took place in India for four consecutive days. In the last week, there have been more than 12 lakh new infections in the country. Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, and Chhattisgarh are at the top of the list. In the last 24 hours, the highest number of infections has been detected in these five states.

n the last 24 hours, the number of victims in Maharashtra is 8,123, in Uttar Pradesh 26,634, in Delhi 24,365, in Karnataka 16,489 and in Chhattisgarh 16,073. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called a high-level meeting on Saturday to discuss the situation. In a video conference with several state chief ministers and top officials of the central government, Modi said, "India will be able to deal with the second wave faster than we did with the first wave of corona last year."

At the meeting, top officials briefed the Prime Minister on the rising infection and vaccine shortage in various states. However, Narendra Modi assured the people that the government would take various steps to tackle the epidemic as soon as possible. The infection has been on the rise in India for the past few days.

A day earlier, the number of victims in the country was 2 lakh 34 thousand 792, which is about 16 thousand more than the previous day.
