Pope Francis greets Bangladesh on golden jubilee of independence

News Desk: Pope Francis has greeted Bangladesh on the golden jubilee of independence. He sent a message of sincere greetings to the leadership of Bangladesh and the people of the country.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pope Francis greeted President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence. He mentioned Bangabandhu in a video message.

Praising Bangladesh, Pope Francis said Bangladesh is a country of modern citizens coexisting with natural beauty and cultural unity, language. Another identity of this is Sonar Bangla. In the video message given in Latin, Pope Francis said that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman dreamed of a golden Bengal.

He dreamed of a society and state where all communities would live in peace, freedom, and security. This is the legacy of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He said, "I firmly believe that the future of democracy and political life in Bangladesh is linked to the founding goal of the country, standing on the 50th anniversary of independence."

Besides, it has to do with the dialogue and the sense of the diversity of the past. ' Calling on all to work for the country, the Pope said, "As friends of Bangladesh, I urge you, especially the youth, to work for the peace and progress of the great nation."

At the same time, praising the Rohingyas fleeing Myanmar for taking refuge in Bangladesh, the Pope said he was hopeful that the generosity and humanity shown by Bangladesh towards the refugees would continue in the future.
