The death of the patient fell through the gap of the 12th floor of the hospital

Gazipur Correspondent: A patient died after falling to the 10th floor through the empty space next to the wall of the prayer room on the 12th floor of the hospital after coming for treatment. The accident took place at Shahid Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur on Friday (May 3) around 11 pm. 

The deceased Zillur Rahman (70) is a resident of Dardaria area of ​​Kapasia upazila of Gazipur. He suffered a brain stroke and was undergoing treatment in the balcony of the 12th floor medicine department. 

Director of the hospital. Aminul Islam admitted the truth of the incident and said that a 6-member investigation committee has been formed to investigate the incident. The head of the committee is Rubina Yasmin, head of the hospital's medicine department. The committee has been asked to submit an inquiry report within three working days.

According to hospital authority sources, Zillur Rahman was walking on the 12th floor balcony at around 10:30 pm on Friday night. At one point at around 11:15 pm, he fell down on the 10th floor through a gap on the side of the room wall and got seriously injured. He was rescued and taken to the emergency department of the hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead. 

Aslam Hossain, a patient who came to the hospital for treatment, said that the accident would not have happened if the door of the prayer room was not locked and the empty space on the side of the wall of the room was blocked with a net. In this case, the hospital authorities are negligent.

In this regard, the director of the hospital. Aminul Islam said that the matter was reported to the Public Works Department several times but they did not take action. However, it was not possible to contact the Executive Engineer of Public Works Department. 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gazipur Sadar Police Station. Rafiul Karim said that legal measures are under process in this regard. The body has been sent to the morgue of the hospital for autopsy.
