The country's second largest shipment of yaba was recovered from Chakaria in Cox's Bazar

Cox's Bazar Correspondent:  The police recovered 12 lakh 50 thousand pieces of yaba by raiding Chakria Drilahazara Canal in Cox's Bazar under the guise of jail. Meanwhile, the drug dealers escaped by jumping into the river.

The operation was carried out from Sunday (April 28) at 10:00 pm to Monday (April 29) at 12:00 am in Khutakhalisth river of the upazila.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chakaria Police Station Sheikh Mohammad Ali said, 'On receiving information that a large amount of yaba is being smuggled, the police went on a raid with several police teams in the guise of a jail. When the trawler chased the drug smugglers in the operation, the smugglers escaped by jumping into the river. 

He said, 'The trawler left by the drug traffickers has been seized. After searching the trawler, 5 medium size drums filled with yaba were recovered. The bottom of each drum was cut. 12 lakh 50 thousand pieces of yaba were recovered from inside the drum. The estimated value of which is 37 crore 50 lakh taka.
