King of Bhutan in Dhaka on a four-day visit

News Desk: King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan arrived in Bangladesh on a four-day visit on Monday (March 25). The King of Bhutan and his entourage arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a special flight around 10am on Monday (March 25). President Mohammad Sahabuddin welcomed the King of Bhutan at the airport. He was given a red carpet reception and a guard of honour. The Queen of Bhutan, members of her family, Ministers of the Government of Bhutan and high-ranking officials from various government departments are accompanying the King of Bhutan.

This is the first VVIP visit to Bangladesh after the new government took over. Three MoUs will be signed during the King of Bhutan's visit. Also an existing contract will be renewed. The King of Bhutan will participate in the Independence and National Day celebrations of Bangladesh. He will meet with the President and the Prime Minister during the visit. On the first day of the visit, the King of Bhutan will visit the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi No. 32 and pay tribute to the memory of the Father of the Nation. He will pay tribute to the martyrs of the Great Liberation War at Savar National Memorial on March 26. Besides, Sheikh Hasina will visit the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery Hospital. Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk will visit Padma Bridge on March 27.

Besides, he will visit the Bangladesh Special Economic Zone located at Arai Hazar in Narayanganj. After the visit, the King of Bhutan will leave Bangladesh through the Burimari border on March 28. However, some of the entourage of the king of Bhutan will depart from Dhaka on March 27 in a special flight. It should be noted that before this, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan visited Bangladesh in 2013.
