Traffic on the Dhaka-Tangail highway is running stop-and-go

News Desk :Due to the pressure of excess traffic, the Dhaka-Tangail highway is slow in an area of ​​about 20 km from Yamuna Bridge to Rabna Bypass. Drivers and passengers have suffered.

Thursday (March 19) morning, at various points including Elenga Bus Station, Rabna Bypass, Ashekpur Bypass on Dhaka-Tangail Yamuna Bridge Highway, passengers are going home risking their lives in trucks, pickups, macrobuses besides buses.

Also, private cars and motorcycles were seen more than buses on the highway. Passengers are using rented motorcycles and private cars to travel. Many people are doing it in open truck-pickup because of the double fare.

Elenga Highway Police Outpost in-charge Muhammad Sharif said that the slowness was caused from night to dawn due to excessive traffic pressure, breakdown of vehicles on the highway. 

He also said that sufficient law and order forces have been deployed on the highway to ensure smooth Eid journey. We are working so that there is no traffic jam. Drivers and passengers are reaching their destination without any problems.
