Humanoid Robots Set to Enter Industrial Factories

Tech Desk: Taiwanese tech giant Foxconn and American chipmaker NVIDIA are gearing up to bring a revolutionary change to AI server production by using humanoid robots in industrial factories.

According to a report by Reuters, these humanoid robots may be deployed in Foxconn’s new factory in Houston. Developed as part of a joint initiative between the two companies, the robots will be capable of performing various tasks such as lifting products, placing them accurately, assembling components, and connecting cables.

The companies aim to ready these robots by the first quarter of 2025, coinciding with the planned production of the GB200 AI server. Leo Guo, general manager of Foxconn’s robotics unit, stated that two types of humanoid robots will be unveiled at a tech exhibition this November—one that walks on legs and another that moves on wheels. He added that the wheeled version may prove to be more cost-effective for practical use.

NVIDIA has long been a provider of software and hardware platforms for humanoid robot developers. This latest collaboration is expected to strengthen its position in the robotics industry even further.

Experts believe that within the next five years, the use of humanoid robots in industrial factories will become widespread—ushering in a new era of productivity and automation.
