Tariqul Islam from Raninagar Receives Best Graduate Award from Beihang University, China

Naogaon Correspondent: Md. Tariqul Islam (Taz), a Bangladeshi student and a proud son of Raninagar in Naogaon, has received the Best Graduate Award from Beihang University, China. He earned this prestigious recognition for his outstanding contribution at the postgraduate level in aeronautical engineering.

The award was presented during the convocation ceremony held last Monday at 2:30 PM on the main campus of Beihang University, located on Xueyuan Road in Haidian District, Beijing. Professor Zhao Weisheng, Vice President of Beihang University, handed over the award as the chief guest. Also present at the event were Professor Zhang Zhihui (Deputy Director, International Affairs), Professor Wu Xiaojun (Associate Dean, International School), and Professor Su Yuan Ming, among others.

A special highlight of the event was that due to Tariqul Islam’s achievement, his main research supervisor, Professor Su Yuan Ming, also received the Best Supervisor Award. It was a moment of joint glory for both student and mentor. Previously, Tariqul had completed his bachelor's with distinction in mechanical engineering from Changsha University of Science and Technology in Hunan Province, where he had also received the Best Graduate Award.

Tariqul’s research focused on aircraft design, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicles, aerodynamics, and machine learning. He is currently employed as an aircraft aerodynamic design engineer at an aerospace company in Beijing. In his speech at the convocation, Tariqul said he dedicated his achievement to Professor Su Yuan Ming, his parents, his wife, and all the senior brothers and friends back home.

Born on April 12, 1998, in Belobari village under Raninagar upazila, Tariqul is the eldest son of Md. Bullet Hossain, an office assistant at Raninagar Al-Amin Dakhil Madrasa, and Sultana Moftaron Begum, a school teacher. A meritorious student since childhood, he earned a scholarship in class five and later completed SSC (2015) and HSC (2017) with GPA-5 from Savar Laboratory College, where he received multiple awards for academic excellence. He later earned a scholarship to pursue higher education in China. His success has brought pride to the entire nation. Family, relatives, and locals have expressed their joy and prayed for his bright and prosperous future.
