This Time, 5 Israeli Soldiers Killed in Roadside Bomb Explosion

International Desk: Five Israeli soldiers were killed in a powerful roadside bomb explosion during a ground operation in Beit Hanoun, Gaza, on Monday night. The incident occurred shortly after 10 PM, according to a report by The Times of Israel on Tuesday (July 8), citing the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).

The soldiers were walking along the side of a road when an improvised explosive device (IED) planted earlier detonated, causing significant casualties. During the rescue operation, several others came under gunfire. Among the 14 injured, two are reported to be in critical condition.

The IDF has released the names of two of the deceased soldiers: Sergeant Meir Shimon Amar (20) and Sergeant Moshe Nishim Frech (20). The names of the remaining fallen soldiers will be disclosed later, the IDF said.

The soldiers belonged to the Netzah Yehuda Battalion and were operating as part of a mission with the 646th Reserve Paratroopers Brigade under the Northern Brigade of the Gaza Division.

Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have reportedly killed over a hundred more Palestinians, further escalating the already dire humanitarian crisis in the region.

This deadly incident underscores the fragility of the current ceasefire, as violence continues to erupt on both sides despite formal declarations of truce.
