Proposal to Form a National Government with Dr. Yunus as President and Tarique Rahman as Prime Minister

News Desk: A newly formed political party, ‘National Unity and Solidarity Council,’ has proposed the formation of an interim national government, with Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus as the President and BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman as the Prime Minister.

This proposal was presented at the party’s inaugural event at the National Press Club on Monday (May 5). During the event, the structure of the proposed national government and the proportional participation in the cabinet were discussed in detail through a discussion session.

The party has formed a 20-member committee with Md. Nazimul Haque as the convener. In the meeting, the leaders proposed the names of those who would hold key positions in the proposed national government: Dr. Yunus as the President, Badiul Alam Majumder as Vice President, Tarique Rahman as Prime Minister, and Dr. Shafiqul Rahman as Deputy Prime Minister.

The leaders also outlined the participation of various political parties in the proposed cabinet: BNP would hold 25%, Jamaat-e-Islami 20%, NCP 15%, Islamic Movement 5%, key individuals 10%, and other political parties 25%.

The event was attended by prominent figures, including Dr. Sabir Ahmed Chowdhury, Chairman of the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies at Dhaka University, Dr. Hasnan Ahmed, Chairman of the National Education Services Council, and Supreme Court lawyer SM Formanul Islam.
