Begum Khaleda Zia on Her Way to the Firoza Residence in Gulshan

News Desk: After four long months, the BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia returned to the country from London. Today, Tuesday (May 6), the special air ambulance from the Qatari royal family carrying her landed at Shahjalal International Airport just after 10:30 AM.

After completing the formalities at the airport, Begum Khaleda Zia is now on her way to her Gulshan residence, Firoza. At around 11:10 AM, she got into a car with her two daughters-in-law.

Meanwhile, thousands of party leaders and workers have gathered along the entire route from the airport to Gulshan to welcome the BNP Chairperson. Party leaders and workers have been occupying the footpaths at various intersections since morning. Many of them are holding flowers, banners, placards, and pictures of Khaleda Zia. The area around the airport road has become filled with slogans and cheers from her supporters.

Begum Khaleda Zia will head directly to her residence, Firoza, in Gulshan. To avoid any disruption due to crowding, law enforcement agencies have been deployed along the route.

The air ambulance carrying Khaleda Zia left London's Heathrow Airport late Monday night, Bangladesh time. The flight made a stopover in Doha, Qatar.

At Heathrow Airport, Khaleda Zia was seen off by her elder son and BNP’s Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman. He accompanied his mother to the airport from their home.

On January 8, Khaleda Zia traveled to London for advanced medical treatment. Upon learning about her health condition, the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, arranged the air ambulance. She had traveled to London in that very air ambulance. Now, she is returning to Bangladesh in the same aircraft provided by the Amir of Qatar.

In London, she received medical treatment under the supervision of renowned specialists Professor Patrick Kennedy and Professor Jennifer Cross at a clinic. After being treated for 17 consecutive days at the clinic, she had been staying at her son Tarique Rahman’s residence since January 25.
