Pak-India soldiers engaged in gunfire along the Kashmir border for 12 consecutive days

International Desk: Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated to a peak following a recent attack in Kashmir. In this situation, both countries have been engaged in gunfire along the Kashmir border for 12 consecutive days, according to a report by Indian news outlet NDTV on Tuesday (May 6).

Although continuous gunfire had been reported earlier, it was initially hoped that the situation would stabilize slightly due to a United Nations Security Council meeting held on Monday to address the ongoing conflict between the two nations.

However, conditions have continued to deteriorate, and the possibility of war looms large. The UN Security Council has also expressed concern over the growing crisis.

According to NDTV, despite Islamabad's request prompting a closed-door session at the UN Security Council to discuss the rising tensions, Pakistan continued shelling across the Line of Control (LoC) for the 12th straight night.

The report added that in response to Pakistan’s shelling, Indian forces returned fire across several areas in Jammu and Kashmir, including Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar, Nowshera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor.
