News Desk: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has termed Ziaur Rahman's decision to cancel the title of 'Bir Uttam' as a 'disgrace to the liberation war'. The BNP secretary general, who is in quarantine in Singapore for treatment, told reporters by telephone on Wednesday (February 10th). BNP chairperson's press wing member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed the information.

Fakhrul said, "I think the decision of the National Freedom Fighters Council to cancel the title is completely politically vindictive. I never think those who have taken this decision have respect for the liberation war. They are against independence, against the liberation war and against the totally heroic freedom fighters. This decision tarnished the image of the liberation war.

I strongly condemn and protest against such a decision. " He said, "The decision to cancel the title has been taken by the National Freedom Fighters Council and they have decided to inform the government."

I think this has been done to divert the public's attention from the misdeeds of this government and the corruption that is emerging in various ways. ' Highlighting the memorable role of Ziaur Rahman in the war of liberation, he said, "The martyred President Ziaur Rahman Biruttam, the herald of independence, did not just sit with the declaration of independence.

He has been fighting for the country for 9 months as a sector commander and not only the people of Bangladesh but people all over the world know that the war of independence in Bangladesh started with his declaration. ‘There is evidence of this not only in the people of Bangladesh, but also in the writings of many outside writers. He was given the title of Bir Uttam, which was given to him by the government of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman after independence.
