Katiadi (Kishoreganj) Correspondent: The week-long fair of the traditional Kurikhai of Katiadi upazila of Kishoreganj is officially starting from Tuesday. Bukhari (Rah.) Bengal started preaching Islam in 1225 in Kurikhai area of ​​Katiadi upazila with 3 companions Shah Nasir, Shah Kabir and Shah Kalander and he was the first preacher of Islam in this region. Besides, he was one of the Bar Auliyas. Every year on the last Tuesday of the month of Magh, a week-long fair begins at the shrine of Kurikhai Shah Shamsuddin Bukhari (R). The day before the start of the fair, on Monday night, The fair is spread all over the area.

There is a huge market of wooden items, sweets, toys, sweets, manda, murdi and binni khai. Soccer, puppet dance, merry-go-round and other entertainment are also organized.

On the occasion of the fair, the bridegrooms of the region are specially invited and the main attraction of the fair is the fish market. Weekly Urs Mubarak and Muri Khai Mela on Monday, Fish Mela on Tuesday, Boo Mela on Wednesday, Jamai Mela on Thursday, Milon Mela on Friday, Anand Mela on Saturday and Weekly Wood Mela and General Mela from Sunday It is believed that eating boiled fish at the Kurikhai fair can get rid of the Saturn phase for that year.

On the occasion of the fair, the invitation of the son-in-law is prevalent in every house. The special attraction of the fair is the last two days of the wife fair. Only in the area Women of different ages come to the fair to shop. Nearly lakhs of people come from different parts of the country. There are Mazar Sharif, mosque pond, primary school, health center, rest house and other places of residence of mad fakirs. Former IGP Nur Mohammad, MP of Kishoreganj-2 constituency, said that the fair of Kurikhai on the occasion of Urs of Hazrat Shah Shamsuddin Bukhari (RA) is a gathering of people of the region irrespective of religion and caste.

This fair is the tradition of rural Bengal in this region. As a result, the folk tradition of Bengal surrounding the fair is increasing day by day. And so the reputation of the area is spreading all over the country. Awami League leader Mohammad Moinuzzaman Apu, general secretary of the organizing committee of the fair, said the fair is a universal festival with the passage of time.

He urged everyone to come to the fair irrespective of religion or caste. Meanwhile, Katiadi Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mosha Akhtarun Nesha, president of the organizing committee of the fair, said all preparations have been completed for the fair and festival. Additional police have been deployed for the security of the fair.
