For the first time in Chatmohar, hybrid rice is cultivated in a synchronous manner

Chatmohar (Pabna) Correspondent: For the first time in Chatmohar, Pabna, hybrid boro paddy is being cultivated in a synchronous manner. Boro is being planted in Khairbaria village of Bhadra block of Mathurapur union of the upazila in 'synchronous' method. Hybrid paddy will be planted in 50 acres of land of 75 farmers of the village. Boro rice seedlings have already been made in plastic trays.

Planting will begin. It is a high yielding JKRH-1220 variety hybrid rice. The same type of paddy will be planted on the same land in synchronous manner. The Department of Agricultural Extension has adopted boro planting system in 61 upazilas of 61 districts in a synchronous manner. This is being planted in Chatmohar upazila of Pabna district. In this method the seeds are planted in plastic trays and then the seedlings are taken out. Planting activities are going on now. Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid AA Masum Billah said that modern technology will save time in paddy planting, production cost and time.

Meanwhile, the smoke of boro cultivation has fallen in Chalanbil area including Chatmohar. Ignoring the severe winter of Magh, the farmers are busy planting saplings. Kiyanirao not sitting. Farmers' interest in boro cultivation has increased due to good prices of paddy last season and availability of agricultural inputs in the market. As soon as the light of day comes out in the morning, the farmers are going down to the field in boro cultivation, ignoring the winter and fog. Amazement of the festival by planting paddy in the villages.

Farmers and agricultural workers are cultivating lunch in the fields. Farmers are also picking saplings from the seedbed and taking them to the land. The bumper crop of boro paddy is harvested every year in the Chalon-Bil area, known as the granary. Boro farmers suffered some damage in the early floods last season.

So this time they have come down to Joresro Boro Abad. Chatmohar Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid A Masumbillah said the target for planting Eri-Boro in Chatmohar Upazila this season has been set at 9,060 hectares of land. Of these, 6,510 hectares are upland, 1,200 hectares are hybrids and 60 hectares are local varieties.
