News Desk: Universities were waiting to fix the date of admission test, when the results of HSC and equivalent assessment will be announced. After the results were released on Saturday, the universities are now going to start preparing for the exams. They have already taken some preliminary decisions on the method of admission test.

However, some of the vice-chancellors do not want to rush the admission test. The reason, they say, is that those who were admitted to the university in the last academic year did not have classes in their classrooms. They were not tested. In this situation, it would not be appropriate to rush and admit new students in the first year. However, regardless of the preparation of the universities, there are more students who have passed HSC and equivalent examinations than seats in higher education.

For this reason, there is concern about whether all the students who have passed can be admitted or not. Nine general education boards and madrasa and technical education boards have passed a total of 13 lakh 8 thousand 38 candidates this time. Of these, 1 lakh 61 thousand 606 people got GPA-5. But according to the University Grants Commission (UGC), there are about 11 lakh seats for admission in higher education.

As a result, not all students who pass have admission opportunities. This time most of the government universities will take admission test in cluster system. Of these, 20 general and science and technology universities will take admission test in cluster system for the first time. Mizanur Rahman, vice-chancellor of Jagannath University, who is in charge of the joint convener of the admission test program in these universities, said they have called a preparatory meeting on February 4.

However, the date of the examination will be fixed at the meeting of the University Council, the organization of the Vice-Chancellors of the universities. Although his initial idea was that the admission test of other universities would be taken after the admission test of medical and engineering universities. He thinks there is nothing to rush about the admission test. And this test should be taken as soon as the corona infection is under control. Admission test will be conducted in cluster system of seven agricultural universities under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University.

However, Dhaka, Rajshahi and Chittagong universities will take admission test separately. Jahangirnagar University Vice-Chancellor Amir Hossain said yesterday, now they will decide when and how to take the admission test. There are 8 colleges in the National University which offer undergraduate (honors) courses. Harun-ur-Rashid, the university's vice-chancellor, said they wanted to complete the admissions process by March-April. And they will not have a problem. Because, they will admit students on the basis of SSC and HSC examination results without admission test as per the conventional rules.

They will not sit to open for this. The four engineering and technology universities have discussed but have yet to decide whether to take the admission test in a cluster system. Dhaka University Vice Chancellor. Akhtaruzzaman said there was no possibility of an admission test before March. However, the deans of different faculties will decide the date of the examination.
