Killing a college student to avenge his father's murder

News Desk: Opponents have hacked to death Tanvir Mia, 21, son of the accused in the murder case to avenge his father's murder in Baniachang, Habiganj. The deceased was identified as Tanvri, son of Montaz Miah of Bariuri village under Baniachang upazila. Locals said a long-running dispute between Montaz Mia and Mohammad Ali's group in Barauri village over rural domination.

In 2016, Mohammad Ali's father Amir Ali was killed by Montaz Mia's men in a clash. The accused in the murder case were fugitives for a long time. Meanwhile, tensions between the two sides flared up again when Montaz Mia and his men entered the village on Saturday. At one stage, when the two sides clashed again at around 7.30 pm, the opponents hacked the college student Tanvir to death.

Upon receiving the news, the police recovered the body around 10 pm and sent it to the morgue of Habiganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy on Sunday morning. Local villagers have called it revenge for the killings. Officer-in-charge of Baniachang Police Station OC Emran Hossain confirmed the matter.
