CNI Desk: Dinajpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) fined a groom Tk 10,000 for foiling a child marriage ceremony at Birampur upazila on Monday.

The incident happened at Mallikpur village of Mukundopur union around 10:30am.

The groom is identified as Alfaz Hossain Murad, son of Dabir Uddin.

The bride is a class-IX student at a madrasa. They are hailing from same village.

Being informed of child marriage, police rushed to the spot, said UNO and executive magistrate Parimal Kumar.

After examination of certificate, the UNO identified that the age of the girl is below 18.
