Today is Nandigram Raider Free Day

Nandigram (Bogra) Correspondent: On 13 December 1971, the freedom fighters defeated the Pak aggressors and hoisted the victory flag of independence at Nandigram. During the War of Liberation, the freedom fighters under the leadership of Abu Bakkar received training at Sector 6 of Bhandua Military Center in UP Deradong Sub-Division in India and entered Bangladesh through the Indo-Bangladesh Healy border.

At this time they started fighting with the Pak army and razakars. Then on their way to Nandigram Asha, they fought with the Pak invaders at Bamuja village of Kahalur. 18 Pak soldiers were killed in that battle. Then the freedom fighters led by Abu Bakkar entered Nandigram on 9th December. The freedom fighters had to fight 3 points here. The freedom fighters first attacked the Pak army and their allies from the side of the road at Mandal Pukur CNDB in Nandigram on 11 December.

On that day the freedom fighters fought with the razakars near the Ranbagha big bridge. On the other hand, a battle was fought between the freedom fighters and the Pak army at Belgharia. In that battle a Pak army surrendered. During the war of liberation, the Pak army in collaboration with the Razakars brutally killed Akram Hossain of Chakalma village, Abdul Wahed of Badlashan village, Mohiuddin of Rustampur village, Abdul Sobahan of Bhatra village, Mofazzal Hossain of Nandigram, Chamiruddin of Hatkarai village and his two sons Abdul Razzak and Abdul Rashid.

On 12 December 1971, the freedom fighters attacked the police station and fought with about two hundred Pak soldiers and razakars. In that battle, they arrested 70 Razakars and recovered a large quantity of weapons. Besides, the life and death battle of the freedom fighters with the Pak army and razakars took place at the post office of Nandigram. Finally, on 13 December 1971, the freedom fighters removed the Pakhanadars and Razakars, liberated Nandigram and raised the victory flag of independence.
