10 people hanged for killing Amjad Hossain chairman in Chittagong

News Desk: The court has ordered the execution of 10 accused in the murder case of Amjad Hossain Chairman which took place in Satkania of Chittagong 22 years ago. Judge AKM Mozammel Haque of the Chittagong Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal pronounced the verdict at 12:30 pm on Sunday (December 13). Plaintiff's lawyer SUM Nurul Islam confirmed the matter. Amjad Hossain's wife and plaintiff Syeda Raushan Akhter said, "I have been waiting for 21 years for the trial of my husband's murder. I am happy that the maximum punishment for the accused is death. I don't want anything else.

" On October 3, 1999, Sonakania Union Parishad Chairman Amjad Hossain was shot dead by miscreants in front of Satkania Mirzarkhil Durbar Sharif. Sarwar Kamal, general secretary of Amjad Hossain Smriti Sangsad, said Awami League leader Amjad Hossain was the two-time chairman of Sonakania Union No. 16 in Satkania Upazila. He became a target of miscreants as a result of his role as a defender in crime eradication and counter-terrorism in the union. Sarwar Kamal said the miscreants shot Amjad Hossain at a tea shop near the north gate of Darbar Sharif on the night of October 3, 1999 during Orsh at Mirzarkhil Darbar Sharif and fled.

The victim's wife Raushan Akhtar filed a murder case. The case was first investigated by the Satkania police, but was later handed over to the CID by an order of the Home Ministry. After a long investigation, the CID police submitted the chargesheet of the murder case on December 22, 2000. The argument in this case ended on November 11 this year. On the same day, the court canceled the bail of 10 accused and sent them to jail. One of the 20 accused in the case has died, while the other nine are fugitives.
