Kasemi, the secretary general of Hefazat-e-Islam, is no more

News Desk: Allama Noor Hossain Qasemi, Secretary General of Hefazat-e-Islam has passed away. He died on Sunday (December 13th) in the ICU of the United Hospital in the capital. His press secretary Mufti Munir Ahmed confirmed the information. He was admitted to the United Hospital in the capital on December 1 due to shortness of breath.

He was immediately transferred to the ICU on Thursday night when his physical condition suddenly deteriorated. Prior to his death, Allama Nur Hossain Qasemi was the Secretary General of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh, Vice President of Befaq and Co-Chairman of Al-Haya Board. Allama Qasemi was born on 10 January 1945 in Chadda village of Manoharganj police station in Comilla district to an aristocratic Muslim family. In his colorful education he went to India to study at Darul Uloom Deoband. After failing to reach the scheduled time, he was admitted to Beritajpur Madrasa in Saharanpur district of India.

After completing Jalaline (graduation) in Jamaat there, Darul Uloom moved to Deoband. He studied at Deoband Madrasa for a total of 3 years. After completing his Hadith (Masters) in Daura, he got higher education in Arabic literature and philosophy. He founded Jamia Madania in 1986 and Jamia Sobhania Mahmud Nagar in 1997. He was the Shaykhul Hadith and Director General of these organizations from its inception till his death.

He was also involved in running about 45 madrasas. He was also associated with the Khatme Nabuat movement from 1990 to 2000 and served as its general secretary.
