Panchagarh has established 13 more family vegetable gardens

Panchagarh Correspondent: More than 13 hundred family vegetable gardens have been set up in Panchagarh to deal with the crisis during and after the Corona. The district agriculture extension department has taken special initiative to set up 32 family vegetable gardens in each union of the district to keep the production normal.

The Panchagarh Agriculture Department said that these families have been given fertilizers, seeds and other assistance in addition to cash for gardening under government incentives. It is learned that all the families who have 1 per cent land at home have been selected for setting up vegetable gardens. Even in Corona, these families will have the opportunity to meet their nutritional needs as well as earn extra income. According to the Panchagarh Agriculture Department, there are 32 vegetable and nutrition gardens in Sadar, Boda, Debiganj, three upazilas, 320 in Tetulia 224 and 192 in Atwari upazila. Each family has been given cash assistance of Tk 1,935 and free assistance of Tk 2,600 including 6 different types of vegetable seeds and garden fences.

Mizanur Rahman, a farmer of Kamalapur village in the upazila, said, "I have 11 types of vegetables in my garden including Punishak, Palangshak, Lau, Barbati, Lalshak and Datashak." The boy's education is being carried out by earning extra income from the vegetables produced in this garden. At this time in Corona, by growing vegetables in the backyard, on the one hand, the demand for vegetables in the family is being met.

On the other hand, some additional income has also been provided, said farmer Harun, Akhim Uddin, Abul Hossain and some other nutrition garden owners. Mizanur Rahman, deputy director of the Panchagarh Agricultural Extension Department, said, "These gardens will be a source of additional income as well as meeting the nutritional needs of the coronation period."
